External storage USB devices include thumb\/jump drives, external hard drives, and SD cards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cgb-notification-card-wysiwyg notification-card note\"><div class=\"notification-card-content\"><div class=\"notification-card-icon\"><p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/themes\/jumpcloud\/assets\/images\/gutenberg-blocks\/note-icon.png\" \/><\/p><\/div><div class=\"notification-card-copy is-type-body-default\"><div><strong class=\"notification-card-type\">Note:<\/strong> \n<p>This policy does not block all USB access on your device. You can still connect a USB input device like a mouse or keyboard without issue when this policy is applied to devices. This policy focuses exclusively on external storage connectivity.<\/p>\n <\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Considerations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Applying this policy restricts your external storage capabilities. You will be unable to mount new attached devices after the policy is applied.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Removing this policy makes the USB ports available again for mounting storage devices.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Any devices attached at the time of application of the policy will still be usable until reboot.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This policy applies to all users on a device. Only managed users will receive notifications that storage is blocked. All other users will be silently blocked.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Creating a USB External Storage Restriction Policy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>To create a 探花大神 USB External Storage Restriction Policy for Mac<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Log in to the 探花大神 Admin Portal: <a href=\"https:\/\/console.jumpcloud.com\/login\">https:\/\/console.jumpcloud.com\/login<\/a>.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go to <strong>DEVICE MANAGEMENT <\/strong>&gt; <strong>Policy Management<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the <strong>All<\/strong> tab, click (<strong>+<\/strong>) to create a new policy.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On the <strong>New Policy <\/strong>panel, select the <strong>Mac <\/strong>tab.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select <strong>USB External Storage Restriction Policy<\/strong> from the list, then click <strong>configure<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>(Optional) In the <strong>Policy Name<\/strong> field, enter a new name for the policy or keep the default. Policy names must be unique.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>(Optional) In the<strong> Policy Notes<\/strong> field, enter details like when you created the policy, where you tested it, and where you deployed it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>(Optional) Select the <strong>Device Groups<\/strong> tab. Select one or more device groups where you want to apply this policy. For device groups with multiple OS member types, the policy is applied only to the supported OS.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>(Optional) Select the <strong>Devices<\/strong> tab. Select one or more devices where you want to apply this policy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>Save<\/strong>.
