Alerts are generated in near real time once the monitoring rules are enabled.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While the predefined rule templates are designed to help you save time by quickly configuring rules, they also allow you to customize the rule as per your requirements. You can add relevant descriptions, add precise conditions, and set a relevant priority for your alerts to best suit your needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Customizing alert rules allows you to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Focus on the metrics most critical to your organization<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reduce noise by eliminating unnecessary alerts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensure timely notifications for important events<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Align monitoring with your specific IT policies and requirements<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You can configure rules using predefined rule templates from the Rules Dashboard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To view the rules dashboard, click<strong>&nbsp;Rules<\/strong>&nbsp;on the Alerts console. The Rules dashboard displays all the existing rules.&nbsp;You can perform the following actions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Creating a Rule<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You can click&nbsp;<strong>+Rule<\/strong>&nbsp;to view the rule templates and create a new rule<strong>.&nbsp;<\/strong>See&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/jumpcloud.com\/support\/configure-rules-\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Configure Rules for Device Monitoring and Alerting<\/a> to learn more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Editing a Rule<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You can update a rule from the rules dashboard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>To update an existing rule:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Click the rule that you want to update.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make changes as required.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use the Rule Status toggle button to update the status.\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Enable:<\/strong>&nbsp;to activate the rule so the rule can be used to generate alerts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Disable:&nbsp;<\/strong>todeactivate the rule&nbsp; rule so it is not used to generate alerts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click&nbsp;<strong>Save<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Your changes are saved and the status is updated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Updating Rule Status<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>On the Rules dashboard, use the toggle button to update the status of a rule as required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Enable:<\/strong>&nbsp;to activate the rule so the rule can be used to generate alerts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Disable:&nbsp;<\/strong>todeactivate the rule so it is not used to generate alerts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You can bulk update the status of one or more rules from the Rules dashboard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>To bulk update the status for multiple rules:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Select the rules on the dashboard.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the&nbsp;<strong>Actions&nbsp;<\/strong>dropdown.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select an option:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Enable:<\/strong>&nbsp;to activate the rule.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Disable:&nbsp;<\/strong>todeactivate the rule.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>The status is updated for all the selected rules.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Deleting Rules<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You can delete one or more rules from the Rules dashboard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>To delete rules:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Select the rules on the dashboard.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the&nbsp;<strong>Actions<\/strong>&nbsp;dropdown.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select&nbsp;<strong>Delete<\/strong>&nbsp;and then click&nbsp;<strong>Delete<\/strong>&nbsp;again to confirm when prompted.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>The rules are deleted and removed from the rules list.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cgb-notification-card-wysiwyg notification-card note\"><div class=\"notification-card-content\"><div class=\"notification-card-icon\"><p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/themes\/jumpcloud\/assets\/images\/gutenberg-blocks\/note-icon.png\" \/><\/p><\/div><div class=\"notification-card-copy is-type-body-default\"><div><strong class=\"notification-card-type\">Note:<\/strong> \n<p>Deleting rules does not remove&nbsp; any alerts previously generated by that&nbsp; rule.
