You can change your user password in four places:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

- 探花大神 Menu Bar App (recommended)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- User Portal<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Upstream Integration (i.e. Okta) that syncs the changed password to 探花大神 and to your device<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- System Settings (least recommended)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
Prerequisites<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

- To ensure password sync notifications show up in the 探花大神 tray app, add 探花大神 to the list of apps allowed to send notifications during focus mode on your Mac:\n
- \n
- Open System Settings<\/strong> and click Focus<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Click Do Not Disturb<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Under Allowed Notifications<\/strong>, click Allowed Apps<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Click + Add<\/strong> and add Jumpcloud<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Click Done<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- If your org is using a third-party MDM provider, your admin must send and you must approve a configuration profile to ensure installation of 探花大神’s Endpoint Security extension. See End User Prompt: Approve Your MDM Profile<\/a>.\n

Considerations<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

- The 探花大神 passwords you create must adhere to the complexity settings your organization requires for user account passwords. You’ll get an error if you attempt to create a non-compliant password. See Manage Password and Security Settings<\/a> to learn more about complexity requirements.\n
- \n
- Your password also has to adhere to the password complexity settings of the applications you log in to using 探花大神. If you need help determining the password complexity settings of the applications you use, ask your IT Admin.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- If your account gives you access to SSO applications, it may take several minutes for your password to update for your SSO applications after you change it in 探花大神.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

Changing Your Password With the 探花大神 Menu Bar App<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
On macOS devices, the 探花大神 menu bar app delivers a convenient method for you to change or sync your 探花大神 IdentityOS\u00ae password.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/p><\/div>Note:<\/strong> \nThe menu bar icon can be hidden by your Admin, and you should contact your Admin if you’re unable to locate the menu bar app on your device. Additionally, if your account is managed by Active Directory or Okta, you won’t be able to use the app to reset your password.<\/p>\n <\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
To change your 探花大神 password in the 探花大神 menu bar app<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

- Click the 探花大神 logo in the menu bar to open the 探花大神 menu bar app.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- \n
- Hover over the Your device password is up-to-date message, then click Reset Password<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- In the 探花大神 Password<\/strong> field, enter your current 探花大神 user password.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- In the New Password<\/strong> field, enter your new 探花大神 user password.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- In the Confirm Password<\/strong> field, enter your new 探花大神 user password again.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- If your organization requires an Authentication Method, enter your TOTP from your authentication app or accept the login push request on your mobile device. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Click Save<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
After the 探花大神 menu bar app saves your passwords, 探花大神 updates the FileVault and Keychain passwords accordingly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Changing Your Password in the User Portal<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
To change your 探花大神 password in the User Portal<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

- Log in to the 探花大神 User Portal<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Go to Security<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Under Password<\/strong>, click Reset Password<\/strong>.

- A 探花大神 user login window appears. Enter your Email<\/strong>, then click Continue<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

- 探花大神 will redirect you to your Identity Provider login page. <\/li>\n\n\n\n

If you reset your password, a new, empty keychain will be issued, and the old one will be inaccessible. You can access your keychain in the future by providing your previous Keychain password.<\/p>\n <\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Syncing Your 探花大神 Password with Your Device Password<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Syncing Your 探花大神 Password When Logged In<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
If your password has changed outside of the 探花大神 menu bar app (such as by an Admin reset, within the User Portal, or changing it in an upstream system that syncs passwords with 探花大神), you have to sync your password in the 探花大神 menu bar app. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
To sync your 探花大神 password with your device password:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
- \n
- Once your password has been changed, the 探花大神 menu bar app will recognize that your password has changed and push a notification to your device to confirm the new password and sync it to the device, macOS Keychain, and store it in FileVault.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Click on the 探花大神 tray app icon and click Confirm Now<\/strong> to confirm your password.

Syncing Your 探花大神 Password When Your Device is Offline<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
If your password is changed or reset when you are logged out of your device, the new password won\u2019t yet match the one you use to log in to your device or any passwords stored in FileVault.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To sync your new 探花大神 user password with your device password:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

- If FileVault is enabled, enter your FileVault password. This is the previous password used to log in to your device. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
- On the next screen, you’re promoted to enter your previous 探花大神 password in the Previous Password<\/strong> field and the new password in the Current Password<\/strong> field.

Syncing Your Password in Active Directory or from a Temporary Password<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
If your password is changed by your IT Admin or you change it in Active Directory, the new password won\u2019t match the one you use to log in to your device or any passwords stored in FileVault. You can use these steps to sync your new password with the ones used on your company\u2019s device.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Considerations<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- \n
- If an Admin sets a temporary password, you must first sync that temporary password with your device, FileVault, and Keychain. After these are all in sync, then you can change your temporary password.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- In rare cases, you might see a confirmation that the new password is confirmed when it wasn\u2019t. In this case, the 探花大神 menu bar app will prompt you to sync your password again. After entering your current password again, you will see a confirmation, the password changes have been synced, and the notification will disappear.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- You will be prompted to enter your previous password. You can leave this blank, but you might see one of the following responses:\n
- \n
- If Keychain isn\u2019t in sync with the new password, Apple creates a new empty Keychain for you the next time you log in. You\u2019re still able to sync your new 探花大神 password with your device and FileVault.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- If the 探花大神 Service Account isn\u2019t present on your device, an error will appear. Contact your IT Admin.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
To sync your new 探花大神 password with your device:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
- \n
- In the top right corner of the menu bar, click the 探花大神 tray app icon.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- In the Current 探花大神 Password<\/strong> field, enter the password set by your IT Admin or the one you changed in Active Directory.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Click Next<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- When prompted for your Previous 探花大神 Password<\/strong>, enter your old password or leave it blank if you don\u2019t remember it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Click Next<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- You\u2019ll receive a confirmation that your password change was successful. Your Mac password is in sync with 探花大神, Keychain and FileVault.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
Syncing Your 探花大神 Password with your Device when the 探花大神 Menu Bar App is Hidden<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
If the 探花大神 menu bar app is hidden, your admin has either configured an integration such as Okta, or you have Password Sync disabled for your device.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If your admin has configured an upstream integration such as Okta that syncs passwords to 探花大神, you will be able to change your password in Okta, and then have that password synced with探花大神. When you change your password in Okta, 探花大神 will recognize the change and push a notification to your device to confirm the new password and sync it to the device, macOS Keychain, and store it in FileVault.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To sync your 探花大神 password with your device after changing it in an upstream integration, such as Okta:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
- \n
- Change your password in the upstream integration. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Next, restart your device so that you\u2019re prompted to log in to the device again.\n
- \n
- A user log out or a long period of inactivity (like after a weekend) will prompt you to log in again as well. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- If FileVault is enabled, enter your FileVault password. This is the previous password used to log in to your device. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
- On the next screen, you\u2019ll be prompted to enter your previous password and your new password that you just changed in your IdP.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<\/p><\/div>Important:<\/strong> \n
If you enter the previous password incorrectly or continue without entering the previous password, we will attempt to recover the password for you to keep your keychain access. If we are unable to recover this password, a new keychain will be created and any passwords saved to the old keychain will be lost. <\/p>\n <\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

- Click the arrow to log in. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
- You are logged in to your device and your password is synced.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
To change your password when Password Sync is disabled for your device:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Changing Your Device Password in the System Settings<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
If a user changes a device password in System Settings (formerly System Preferences), their 探花大神 password will be out of sync with the device, and they will be prompted to reconcile the two passwords. This process will sync their 探花大神 password back to the device, rather than updating the 探花大神 password. They will then be able to use their 探花大神 password to log in to their device and access their 探花大神-managed resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To change your device password in System Settings:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Correcting Unsynchronized 探花大神 and FileVault Passwords<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
When an old password grants FileVault access before the current 探花大神 password grants subsequent macOS device access, use these steps to resolve the discrepancy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/p><\/div>Note:<\/strong> \nYou must know both your previous password and the current password to use this procedure.<\/p>\n <\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

- Boot the device into Recovery Mode:\n

- For Intel devices, press and hold Command-R<\/strong> to boot the device into Recovery Mode.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- For Apple Silicon devices, follow the steps in Start up your computer in macOS Recovery<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- In Recovery Mode\u2019s MacOS Utilities screen, click the Utilities menu in the Mac menu bar, and select Terminal<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- In Terminal mode, enter this command and then press Return<\/strong>: # resetpassword<\/kbd>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
<\/p><\/div>Tip:<\/strong> \nVerify that you’ve typed resetpassword as one word.<\/p>\n <\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

- The Reset Password<\/strong> utility launches and examines local volumes, and then displays three options. Choose My password doesn’t work when logging in<\/strong> and click Next<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- For Apple Silicon devices, follow the steps in Start up your computer in macOS Recovery<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- For Intel devices, press and hold Command-R<\/strong> to boot the device into Recovery Mode.<\/li>\n\n\n\n

- A 探花大神 user login window appears. Enter your Email<\/strong>, then click Continue<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
- Click on Forgot password?<\/strong>. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Go to Security<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- In the 探花大神 Password<\/strong> field, enter your current 探花大神 user password.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
