{"id":76982,"date":"2023-05-17T14:46:21","date_gmt":"2023-05-17T18:46:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jumpcloud.com\/?post_type=support&#038;p=76982"},"modified":"2025-02-05T01:08:02","modified_gmt":"2025-02-05T06:08:02","slug":"grant-screen-recording-and-accessibility-permissions-for-remote-assist-agent-on-macos-devices","status":"publish","type":"support","link":"https:\/\/jumpcloud.com\/support\/grant-screen-recording-and-accessibility-permissions-for-remote-assist-agent-on-macos-devices","title":{"rendered":"Grant Required Permissions for the Remote Assist Agent on macOS Devices"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>MacOS devices require additional <strong>Privacy &amp; Security<\/strong> settings to grant the 探花大神 Remote Assist software permissions to enable remote access and Remote File Manager (RFM) file-sharing capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Depending on your OS version and MDM type, you may be required to enable permissions for Screen Recording, Accessibility, or both to effectively run Remote Assist to its full capabilities, as well as Full Disk Access for RFM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-overview\"><strong>Overview<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To run 探花大神 Remote Assist on macOS devices, you need to grant the app permissions in <strong>System Settings<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Privacy &amp; Security<\/strong>. Depending on your OS version and MDM type, you need to enable permissions for Screen Recording, Accessibility, or both.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-considerations\"><strong>Considerations<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>If your macOS devices are not enrolled in any MDM, users will need to grant the <strong>Accessibility<\/strong> and <strong>Screen Recording<\/strong> permissions manually.\n<ul>\n<li>For instructions, see <a href=\"https:\/\/jumpcloud.com\/support\/grant-screen-recording-and-accessibility-permissions-for-remote-assist-agent-on-macos-devices#granting-permissions-for-a-device-not-manually-enrolled-in-mdm\">Granting Permissions for a Device Not Enrolled in MDM<\/a>&nbsp;.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If your macOS device is enrolled with 探花大神\u2019s MDM and running 11.x (Big Sur) or newer, the 探花大神 agent automatically grants <strong>Accessibility<\/strong> permissions for the Remote Assist agent as part of the PPPC policy push.\n<ul>\n<li>The user is still required to grant <strong>Screen Recording<\/strong> permissions, but doesn\u2019t need special Admin privileges to do so.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If your device is enrolled with 探花大神 MDM, the policy to support the Remote File Manager is applied automatically. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For third party MDMs, you\u2019ll need to either manually grant the 探花大神 Remote Assist agent permissions, or download the custom preconfigured profile for use with your MDM to grant the appropriate permissions to our software.\n<ul>\n<li>For instructions, see <a href=\"https:\/\/jumpcloud.com\/support\/grant-screen-recording-and-accessibility-permissions-for-remote-assist-agent-on-macos-devices#granting-permissions-for-a-non-jumpcloud-mdm\">Granting Permissions for a Non-探花大神 MDM<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-limitations\"><strong>Limitations<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>The Remote Assist Agent does not currently support video streaming from HDR-enabled displays. To effectively use the Remote Assist service, disable HDR video streaming on your device. This policy to support the RFM is enabled in the backend, so it will still work even though it will not appear in the <strong>Full Disk Access <\/strong>folder.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n <\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-granting-permissions-for-a-non-jumpcloud-mdm\">Granting Permissions for a Non-探花大神 MDM<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A custom profile is required for non-探花大神 MDMs. To grant permissions for a non-探花大神 MDM:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Download the custom Privacy Preferences Policy Control (PPPC) file attached to this article.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cgb-notification-card-wysiwyg notification-card note\"><div class=\"notification-card-content\"><div class=\"notification-card-icon\"><p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/themes\/jumpcloud\/assets\/images\/gutenberg-blocks\/note-icon.png\" \/><\/p><\/div><div class=\"notification-card-copy is-type-body-default\"><div><strong class=\"notification-card-type\">Note:<\/strong> \n<ul>\n<li>See the attached <code>PPPC-探花大神-Agent-Permissions-1-1.mobileconfig<\/code> file.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The PPPC profile automatically supports the Remote File Manager feature. The permission to use the RFM is enabled after the policy is deployed. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n <\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>Follow the instructions from your MDM to install this custom profile.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Complete the steps in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/jumpcloud.com\/support\/grant-screen-recording-and-accessibility-permissions-for-remote-assist-agent-on-macos-devices#granting-permissions-for-a-jumpcloud-mdm\">Granting Permissions for a 探花大神 MDM<\/a>&nbsp;.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-granting-permissions-for-users-not-manually-enrolled-in-mdm\">Granting Permissions for Users Not Manually Enrolled in MDM<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If your macOS device meets the following conditions, the user must manually grant the&nbsp;<strong>Accessibility<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>Screen &amp; <strong>Privacy &amp; Security<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Full Disk Access<\/strong>. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the <strong>+<\/strong> icon and add <strong>探花大神 Remote Assist <\/strong>from the Application directory.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Toggle the&nbsp;<strong>探花大神 Remote Assist<\/strong>&nbsp;app to enable full disk access.<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"601\" height=\"473\" class=\"wp-image-96643\" style=\"width: 600px\" src=\"https:\/\/jumpcloud.com\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Manual-FDA-for-RFM-2.png\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jumpcloud.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Manual-FDA-for-RFM-2.png 601w, https:\/\/jumpcloud.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Manual-FDA-for-RFM-2-300x236.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 601px) 100vw, 601px\" \/><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-granting-permissions-using-jumpcloud-remote-assist-system-access\">Granting Permissions Using 探花大神 Remote Assist System Access<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If the required permissions discussed above haven\u2019t been granted by a user on the macOS device, the <strong>探花大神<\/strong> <strong>Remote Assist System Access <\/strong>prompt will be displayed every time a user logs in to the system.<br><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"755\" height=\"665\" class=\"wp-image-111160\" style=\"width: 600px\" src=\"https:\/\/jumpcloud.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Image.png\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jumpcloud.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Image.png 755w, https:\/\/jumpcloud.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Image-300x264.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 755px) 100vw, 755px\" \/><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Users enrolled in 探花大神 MDM can click the <strong>Change Setting<\/strong> button to directly update the settings.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Clicking <strong>Change Setting<\/strong> redirects you to <strong>System Settings<\/strong> &gt;<strong> Privacy &amp; Security<\/strong>. Toggle the 探花大神 Remote Assist app in the list to enable the permission needed to support Remote Assist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cgb-notification-card-wysiwyg notification-card note\"><div class=\"notification-card-content\"><div class=\"notification-card-icon\"><p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/themes\/jumpcloud\/assets\/images\/gutenberg-blocks\/note-icon.png\" \/><\/p><\/div><div class=\"notification-card-copy is-type-body-default\"><div><strong class=\"notification-card-type\">Note:<\/strong> \n<p>For non-探花大神 MDM users and users not manually enrolled in MDM, you must have admin privileges to be able to change the settings.<\/p>\n <\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you have granted all the required permissions, click <strong>Close<\/strong>. The prompt stops appearing in the next login. However, if any of the required permissions are missing, the prompt will be displayed in the next login.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you haven\u2019t granted all the permissions and don&#8217;t want to keep seeing the prompt every time you log in, select the <strong>Do not show me this message again<\/strong> checkbox and then click <strong>Close<\/strong>.
